The Community Foundation for Calderdale and Grassroots Grants Kirklees are giving out £80,000 in awards of £250 to £900, across Kirklees, with three simultaneous cash promotions.

The Huddersfield Examiner launched on the 4 January with a whopping £50,000; the New Asian Voice launched on 15 January and the Reporter series of newspapers in North Kirklees launched on 21 January, with £20,000 to give away.

The venture, supported by Voluntary Action Kirklees, is part of a Government scheme to strengthen the third sector and support small voluntary and charity groups.

Mark Fleetwood, Grants Officer at the Foundation, said: "It's a fantastic opportunity for small groups to get a real cash boost during these challenging economic times for the voluntary and community sector. If you are eligible, just fill in the application form and a Grassroots Grant could be yours. If you need help or advice with the application process please contact VAK on 01484 518457 or us at grants@cffc.co.uk".
