The Launch of the Calderdale Pledge

27/01/10

The Community Foundation for Calderdale is launching the Calderdale Pledge on Thursday 4 February (6pm-7.30pm); an initiative guaranteed to make a lasting difference to the community, at a photo exhibition in the Viaduct Cafe, Dean Clough.

The Pledge is a new scheme to encourage people to pledge £5,000 over any set period of time to the Foundation, who will then put the money back into the Community.

As well as the Foundation, there will be musicians from local community group Noel and Guest Speakers Roger Harvey OBE and Erika Bowker who will say a few words about voluntary & community groups close to their hearts and why they are supporting the Calderdale Pledge.

By giving to the Foundation you will be contributing to funds which support, on average, over 100 local community and voluntary groups every year.

Tina Shaw, Chairperson of Kiddies Korner Parent and Child Club, said: "Without the Foundation we couldn't have continued with Kiddies Korner which plays an important part in our community. Your input has given us both the cash and the recognition and will really change so many children's lives."

The Calderdale Pledge is your opportunity to support the Foundation and the fantastic news is that you don't have to be a millionaire to make a Pledge.

Steve Duncan DL, the Foundation's Chief Executive said: "You really do have the power to change lives; support Calderdale's not-for-profit organisations and the 1000's of people they help each year, by giving £5,000 over a number of years to suit your pocket. All Pledge donations will be added to the Foundation 'endowed' Funds so that year-in and year-out grants will be given out long after you or I are not around!"

The launch will be joined with a photo exhibition by the work of local photographer Chris Vickery and 30 per cent of any photo sales will be donated to the Pledge. Refreshments and nibbles will be available.
