Gilder Hall Youth Foundation Project Success
05/03/10
Gilder Hall Youth Foundation received a Kirklees Grassroots Grant of £5,000 in December which enabled the group to take a camping trip to Bradley woods in the February half term.
The children participated in a range of exciting activities including archery, orienteering wall climbing and other team building exercises.
The trip gave the children and staff the opportunity to bond and develop their relationships. Gilder Hall sent a letter of thanks including hand made thank you notes from some of the children.
Teresa O'Gorman center coordinator said, "It was a great success and gave us all the chance to have lots of fun and get to know each other better, which is invaluable when trying to build strong relationships with young people for the future."
The group are also planning phase two of the project which will involve the children participating in a large art project which will decorate the community center with the help of the fund. The group intends to hold an open day later this year to showcase the work and activities on offer at the center.
