"Getting there with Grassroots Grants"

Groups funded by Grassroots Grants in Kirklees prior to March 2010, were invited to take part in the event held at Thornhill Lees Community Centre. The evening gave the local groups the opportunity to give their views and share experiences running a Grassroots Grants Project.

Over 50 people from the groups, Members of the Grassroots Grants panel and representatives from Voluntary Action Kirklees (VAK) took part. VAK provide work with the voluntary and community sector to support the development of local groups and their projects. For more information visit the VAK website at http://www.voluntaryactionkirklees.co.uk/

There was a great deal of valuable information and discussion that will be fed back to the Community Development Foundation. The report created from this event will be available on our website in April.

Board members of One Community Foundation "for the people of Kirklees" were also present on the night to raise awareness of the new addition to the Foundation Network. The Foundation is due to officially launch in May. You can find out more about the Foundation by visiting http://www.one-community.org.uk

The event was run by the Community Foundation for Calderdale who manage Grassroots Grants in Kirklees on behalf of the Community Development Foundation and the Office of the Third Sector.
