Volunteers
We are also delighted to welcome some new volunteers in to the team. These people have a variety of skills to assist in the smooth running of the Foundation, and we are very grateful for their time and energy.
Fran Orford
Fran is a full time cartoonist who lives in Hebden Bridge. Since taking up his pen 10 years ago, his cartoons have been used by over 80 magazines and newspapers in both the UK and Europe. He has been published in Private Eye, The Times, The SpectatorandNew Statement,as well as having had a regular strip in both The ObserverandThe Daily Telegraph.
At the Foundation, Fran makes presentations to businesses in order to gain sponsorship and support for the Foundation.
Hazel Woodall
Mum of three Hazel works full time at HBOS, and volunteers for four hours a month at the Foundation, giving support with finance tracking. Previously, she has packed the SPC documentation for competitors, put stickers in books and parcelled them up to be sent to schools and other small jobs to help the Foundation run smoothly. As well as all this, she helps other charitable causes, including raising money for a children's hospice, sending packages to British troops abroad and also took part in a rebuilding programme in Sri Lanka following the devastation of the 2006 tsunami.
Bob Smith
Having previously worked in education, Bob is now retired and lives near Hebden Bridge. He first joined the Foundation team to help gather and collate information about the South Pennine Challenge, to find the strengths and weaknesses of the event, and see if it can be improved for next year. He is now working on increasing the involvement of local businesses with the Foundation.
Louise French
Louise has recently graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in English Literature, and is joining the Foundation team until the end of September. She works with Natalie in the marketing department, and also assists in all other areas of the Foundation.
