Comic Relief funding for Calderdale

COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FOR CALDERDALE AWARDS OVER £130,000 TO GROUPS IN CALDERDALE FROM COMIC RELIEF FUND

 Community Foundation for Calderdale has awarded over £130,000 of Comic Relief funding to 28 organisations in CaptureCalderdale.

The grants that have been awarded to many local groups include, Halifax Wheelchair Tag Rugby League Club were awarded £6,325.00 in May 2015. The funding for sports equipment will help create a more age inclusive Calderdale Wheelchair Sports Club and delivery programme whilst initially helping to truly develop a junior wheelchair basketball team, thus promoting multisport activity and availability as a pathway for regular participation after their visits and coaching sessions to the 15 seniors schools who do not have regular access to such equipment.

Steve Duncan CEO of the Community Foundation for Calderdale said: “This grant will make a huge difference to people living in the local area. We are delighted to be helping to get even more Comic Relief funding to the communities that need it most, the next round of funding closes on October the 16th.”

Community Foundation for Calderdale has further Comic Relief funding available for Calderdale groups, the funding aims to empower local people, enabling them to create lasting change in their communities.  Projects  should be run  by people directly affected by the issues they are dealing with and priority will be given to small, locally based groups or organisations in areas of disadvantage that have a clear understanding of the needs of their community.

For this round only, Comic Relief is interested in funding projects that increase access to sport and exercise. The closing date for applications is Friday 16th October 2015. Applications are to be made online here .
