Hosted by St Georges Church, Lee Mount Baptist Church and New Beginnings Christian Centre, and supported by 7th Halifax Scout Group, Party in the Park in Shroggs Park, Lee Mount was first held in June 2008, and it has recently held its fourth event.

It has been attended and supported by a variety of groups such as Calderdale MBC, SureStart, Calderdale College, North Halifax Partnership, West Yorkshire Police, West Yorkshire Fire Service, CARS, Midnight League, TAP, Crossley’s Junior Football, Noah’s Ark Café and Rainbows & the Community Foundation for Calderdale

The aim is to provide opportunities for community groups to raise money, advertise their work and build community participation – in an afternoon of family fun.

Around 2000 people attended this year alone & they were able to enjoy traditional games, a funfair, climbing wall and mobile cave, Five a side football, mountain biking, a marching band, contemporary dance groups, tea, coffee and beefburgers!

It has become a regular fixture in the calendar and is well attended and appreciated by the residents. The organisers & the community hope to continue next year but that is dependent on financial support. Calderdale Community Foundation has been very supportive in the past but we do need alternative sources of finance if we are to go ahead this next year as part of the Jubilee Celebrations. Any help or support would be really appreciated. If you feel you could be of assistance please contact: Glenn Roper at partyinthepark@fsmail.net
