Recent Successful Projects
Improve the quality of life for the people of Calderdale.
The following groups and organisations have been awarded grants in the last two months...
Halifax and District Table Tennis Association
Halifax and District Table Tennis Association received £2160 in August from the Foundation's General Fund in order for them to provide coaching activities for children. This will involve twice-weekly coaching sessions at Halifax Table Tennis Centre and primary after-school club sessions over forty weeks. We will integrate the participants in a social, friendly atmosphere developing hand/eye co-ordination skills with target games, fun activities and match play.
In Touch
In Touch provides information and organises healthy activities to improve the quality of life for over 50's, especially the vulnerable and isolated. They received £2,500 from the Foundation's General Fund in August; to enable them to continue improving the quality of life for their members, after other funding methods ceased.
The Ground Floor Project
The Ground Floor Project based in Salem Community Resource Centre was awarded £5000 from the General Fund in August, to cover the cost of upgrading and replacing the electrics and bringing it up to the necessary health and safety requirements.
Without the work being done, it was unlikely that they'd have been able to continue using the upper floor. Meaning, the Reach Out print ship, resource library and computer recycling would be shut down and clubs such as Beavers and Cubs could no longer use that space.
Firths Retired Employees Association
Firths Retired Employees Association received £850 in July from the Kathleen Mary Denham fund, to enhance the members and friends attending monthly meetings, with trips and tours. The association keeps people involved, and in touch with each other, who would otherwise loose contact.
Northern Orchestral Enterprises Ltd (NOEL)
Northern Orchestral Enterprises Ltd recieved £5,000 in July from the Gartland Family Trust to To identify and support young people of secondary school age with a particular musical talent to nurture and mentor them, tailoring their support appropriate to their needs.
