Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival is one of Yorkshire’s largest free food festivals, running for four days every August and set against the impressive backdrop of St George’s Square.
This year was my first ever visit to the Huddersfield Food & Drink festival, I didn’t realise what I was missing and even though its only just finished I can’t wait for the next one if you have not been I would highly recommend it!
The festival program included demonstrations from Royal and Ancient’s Mark Ambler who delighted the audience with pan-fried scallops, pancetta and a pea-shoot salad & Clough House Inn’s Martin Cockram who rustled up a selection of fresh, seasonal fish and seafood, along with scrummy local offerings.
Personal highlights were Angus Ferguson from Demijohn who presented the story of this award-winning liquid deli from Scotland who produce an array of delicious handmade British products including Liqueurs, Vodkas, Vinaigrettes, and the best cocktail ever The Bloody Pirate & Thai Sakon who produced a mouth-watering Vegetable Thai Green Curry.
We also sampled and bought cheese from the Yorkshire Dales Cheese Company who were happy to chat and inform about all the products available as were the Yummy Yorkshire Ice Cream guys who talked me into a trifle flavoured ice cream that was heaven in a cone!
A brilliant day out !!
