Have you heard about the Cycle for work Cycle Cavalcade that is passing your school in April?!

It is set to be a most exciting, spectacular event!!

In April a group of 10 riders, including Steve Duncan DL – Chief Executive of the Community Foundation for Calderdaleare cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats (over 900 miles!) in 9 days to raise money to get young people in to work and to fund apprenticeships!

As part of their cycle challenge, they are taking a detour from the normal route and will be coming through Calderdale on day 5 of the cycle – Tuesday 23rd April (St George’s Day).

Along with the Land’s End to John O’Groats riders, there are also going to be hundreds of other cyclists cycling through Calderdale with them to cheer them on, led by police escorts!

This event is set to be massive, with over 200 cyclists and schools, businesses and locals involved in the Cavalcade! And we would like YOU to be a part of it too!!

We are inviting schools and groups along the route to come outside when the cyclists cycle past to cheer them on and wave them past!!

We have a grant of £50 available for you school to buy materials for the children to make flags, bunting and anything else to give the street a bit of colour as the cyclists cycle past, if you wish!!

The cycle is leaving Walsden at 12.00pm and will arrive in Halifax at around 2.30pm, so the time we pass your school will vary depending where you are on the route – but it will definitely be in school time!

We hope you accept the invitation to come and support our riders for a brilliant cause! We look forward to seeing you brightening the streets!

If you would like to be involved in the Cavalcade, would like to apply for the £50 grant or if you have any question you may need answering, then please don’t hesitate to contact us! You can call Emma Woods-Bolger on 01422 349700 or email emma@cffc.co.uk / kerry@cffc.co.uk
