Jean-Christophe Novelli who is dubbed “the nation’s favourite French chef” has been announced as one of the celebrity chefs coming to town for this years Halifax food festival. Jean- Christophe has been awarded five AA Rosettes & four Michelin stars during his career that started at the tender age of fourteen in his home town of Arras, Northern France.
During his prestigious career he has been private Head Chef to Elie de Rothschild in Paris, spent a year taking care of Keith Floyd’s pub, ‘The Maltsters’, as Head Chef whilst Keith was filming his famous TV Shows, opened his first restaurant, Maison Novelli in Clerkenwell, London, followed quickly by Novelli W8, Novelli EC1 and Les Saveurs in Mayfair.
In addition to his UK empire, Jean-Christophe also launched Novelli at the Cellars; Cape Town’s leading five-star Relais et Chateaux Hotel, Moulin de Jean in Normandy, France and was Chef Consultant on Sea France Ferries.
Jean-Christphe has a wealth of culinary knowledge and wants to share it with others to do this in 2005 he restored part of his own home – a 14th century farmhouse in Hertfordshire to open as a cookery school
His passion to share his knowledge does not stop there though he is a supporter of the national food festivals and will be appearing at many this year and we are lucky enough to be welcoming him to Halifax in September to share his knowledge and sessional recipe ideas
