Todays Foundation Friend is: Angela Riley  

Riley & Co was started 25 years ago by Angela Riley, at the time Angela had no employees and no premises but Angela’s hard work and determination has paid off and is now a very successful charted accountancy business in Calderdale

As Angela has become more and more successful she has also contributed back into Calderdale and actively encouraged her employees to do the same.

Angela has achieved great things and invested considerable time in making a positive difference to local business and voluntary organisations over the last twenty-five years and recently Riley & Co were awarded by the ACCA the prestigious Gold Approved Employer status. To have achieved this status they have demonstrated that they provide trainees with high quality
professional training, including mentoring.

Angela is a past President of the West Yorkshire Society of Chartered Accountants, treasurer of Age Concern Calderdale and Kirklees, a governor at Rishworth School and treasurer of Halifax Hockey Club. She is also President of Yorkshire Hockey Association.

Some of the community minded things Angela has done include

  • Becoming a member of Community Foundation for Calderdale
  • Taking part in a car rally that raised an over all figure of £59,226 before gift aid for MacMillan Cancer Support.
  • Raised money for the Breast Cancer Campaign
  • Sponsored Warley Greens under 11 football team
  • Raised money for Comic relief
  • Sponsored Sean Penkywicz captain of Halifax RLFC
  • Presented the graduates of Calderdale College with their certificates
  • Raised money for age concern Calderdale & Kirklees
  • Arranged a visit from the Halifax RLFC’s Ben Black to The Maurice Jagger Centre
  • Sponsored the Yorkshire Premier league squash match
